The smoker gets loaded early every morning with pork, ribs, brisket and chicken. There is a meat-and-three at lunch on weekdays, and on Friday and Saturday nights we cut steaks.

What we do
Smoked slow and served plenty
The pit is lit before the sun is up. Every meat on the line comes off that smoker, and the sauce is made in our kitchen. You will probably take some of it home in a box.

Pork, chicken or brisket piled on tortilla chips with queso, our own barbecue sauce and jalapenos. Plenty for two people, if you are willing to share.

Cornmeal-crusted fillets with hush puppies. It sells almost as well as the barbecue does. Get it with fries and slaw.

The entree changes every day. Some weeks it is meatloaf, some weeks country fried steak, beef tips and rice, hamburger steak, smoked ham, pork chops, chicken and dressing or fried chicken livers. We post the day's plate on Facebook each morning.

Started by a father and son
Mike Gannon opened the first Tin Top BBQ in Calera and it filled up fast. His son Chase wanted a place of his own, so in 2016 the two of them opened a second Tin Top BBQ in Columbiana.
Mike has since passed away, and Chase runs the place now the way his daddy did. He still teaches every new hire how to load the smoker and build the fire, and most of the crew has been here for years. Come in often enough and they will know your order before you get to the counter.

Before you come
Seating
A handful of tables inside, a front porch and a back patio. It fills up at lunch. If you want a table, come a little early or a little late.
Pickup
Call it in and pull up. We do curbside, and we will box up a whole butt or a slab of ribs to take home.
Payment
Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Kids meals are $3.99 with a drink and a side.
Feeding a crowd
We cater church suppers, ball teams, work lunches and family reunions, pickup or delivered. How catering works.
